Food Focused: UK Study Abroad

For two-ish months the Savor Sisters are going abroad, exploring the food and culture of the UK and what it means for us today!

Hello! Writing here in London and I have so much to say. I am going to break down where we are, what we are doing and why you should even care about it.

The truth is I am more of a talker than a writer. In fact, for years I have said that I really don't enjoy writing. But, somehow I have found myself here in London with a desire to share my thoughts and experiences and this feels like a nice place to do it- in addition to the things me and Olivia are sharing over on Instagram. So with that, let's get to it!

Where are We?

Olivia and I are here in England! We will mainly be in the London area, not too far from the city. We will also be traveling to Ireland and Scotland and to finish our trip we are popping over to the Netherlands, Belgium and France! We are so excited! This is our first time in Europe and feel so blessed to be able to be here and exploring together!

What are we doing

So this is not just our summer trip, vacation to Europe sort of thing- although that would be amazing as well. We are here as study abroad students with our school! The program is titled " FOODS AND STORIES OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE THAT WAS" so it is literally a food based study abroad program! We are discussing all things food, the power it has to bring people together, how food is the means of building empires but can also lead to an empires fall.

Why Should You Care?

If you're reading, I can bet you either love food or your love us haha (thanks mom! ;) Beyond that we think you can learn a thing or two along with us! We believe food has power, not only power to nourish, but power to unite, divide, educate, innovate and elevate. Over the next few weeks we plan on sharing all the things we are eating, if they are worth visiting on your next trip to London along side what we are learning in our classes about the intertwining of food, history and culture. We think these things will not only get you excited about your future restaurant visits, but also help you understand all of the unique capacities that food facilitates.

Stay Tuned!

We are excited to discuss some new ideas and use this as a place for my thoughts and maybe a discussion or two, but mostly we are stoked to be eating all of the good food and sharing it with you!

Thanks for joining us on our British adventure! Don't forget to follow along on Instagram @savor.enjoycompletely for more of our daily insights and stay up to date here on our new website for more posts and thoughts! ☺️

Cheers! ( I've noticed the brits throw this in at the end of most sentences or interactions and I love it.)
